Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) came up
with an evaluation policy this year which was a little conflicting at the
initial phase. The policy divided the entire term into two different terms: -
SUBJECT A 80
marks written +
20
marks Internal/
Practical |
TERM-I |
MCQ
BASED |
40
marks written +
10
marks Internal/
practical |
Total 50 |
Grand
Total 100 |
|
TERM-II |
SUBJECTIVE (NO lockdown condition) OR MCQ
BASED (Partial lockdown condition) OR PERFORMANCE
BASED MARKING (Complete lockdown condition) |
40
marks written +
10
marks Internal/

Total 50 |

The notification for the same was released in the
month of July/August. After understanding the process and working on it, I felt
the assessment is more genuine and will benefit students. When we look at it in
a broader perspective, I think it is a better way of evaluation because: -
1. Almost
in all of the government examinations are MCQ based in the Preliminary
Examination. Only in the mains, there are subjective papers. This MCQ based examination
will help them to perform better on a bigger
platform.
2. Fair
Assessment technique: - MCQ examination are about answering to the point. The
attempted answer is either right or wrong. There is no scope for partial marking.
Thus, this is a fair way of assessment and children will also have a thorough
understanding of topics.
Pandemic has taken a toll over almost all the fields
but it drastically affected the teaching and learning process. It is very
important for any nation to focus on the young generations as they will grow up
to be the face of the country in the coming years.
The taste of change often seems a little bitter at the
beginning but once we start accepting and embracing the change it easily
becomes part of our life.
Do you agree???

Thank you for reading

Well explained.
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity I have a minor doubt
MCQs with the applied subjects like physics, chemistry is possible because they are more of conceptual based subjects.
But what about the language subjects i.e. sanskrit ,hindi english which are more of designed for evaluating our contemplation and expression skills . Because writing a essay as in subjective test is different from choosing the right option for noun or pronoun that can't test your contemplation skills.
Regards ma'am. 😁
Hello
DeleteThank you for the comment
I agree, but for languages the writing skills for building the above mentioned skills can be taken as a part of Term-II wherein subjective examination is there.
Hope I have the right answer for you.
Thank you
Yes
DeleteI was considering only MCQ pattern for all the subjects in partial or full lockdown.
Well subjective is possible only in no lockdown situation.
